Chapter 13

Calculating the File Size of an Uncompressed Digital Video: - Raw video data size = frame size (width X height) * frame rate (fps) * color depth (in bytes) * time (in seconds). 8 bits = 1 byte 1 kilo = 1,024 (from byte to bits) 1 mega = 1,048,576 (bite to byte) 1 giga =  1,073,941,824 (bits to bytes)  -for Audio: 8-bit mono Seconds x kHz = Size 16-bit mono (Seconds x kHz) x 2 = Size 8-bit stereo (Seconds x kHz) x 2 = Size 16-bit stereo ([Seconds x kHz] x 2) x 2 = Size 16-bit 5.1 ([Seconds x kHz] x2) x 6 = Size Factors to consider when selecting graphics to be used in a multimedia project: a) Purpose: – Avoid using images for “filler” or when they have little in common with the overall message or purpose

– 525 LINES/60HZ -USED PRIMARILY IN NORTH AMERICA, TAIWAN, SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN. – 30 FPS PAL (PHASE ALTERNATE LINE) – 625 LINES/50HZ – USED IN EUROPE, ASIA, AND SOUTHERN AFRICA. – 25 FPS SECAM (SYSTEME ELECTRONIQUE COULEUR AVEC MEMOIRE) – 625 LINES/50HZ USED PRIMARILY IN FRANCE, PARTS OF MIDDLE EAST, AND RUSSIA. – 25 FPS. by multiplying the frame rate by 2 you get frame rate per sec. PAL and NTSC uses 4:3 ratio. Analog signals uses wave length while Digital uses Binary. frame ratio for motion pictures (cinema) 24fps.

tips for exams: how to define layers (a layer is transparent) DEFINITION: This are any individual image background that can be stack on one another. Five Different Types of Layers: Type layer (this contains text element) Normal layer (normal layers are always added on-top of the current layers) Adjustment layer ( They are always ontop. this can be use to modify and image without altering the original image) Mask layer ( Thy are always below. protect areas of a layer and it can enable you do reflection Shape layer ( this contains vector shape) Important of Layers: To create complex project Correct colors Add special effect Repair photos and Create composite images. We learnt about how the content of a layer can be controlled. By changing the opacity Changing the stacking other Changing the blending mode; Meaning of Merging: This means combing of several image or combination of two or more images for the purpose reducing. CHAPTER 4 AND 5

We learnt about different selection tools; this tools are use to specify areas to edit within an image, such as color change. (1) lasso tool (2) magnetic lasso tool (3) polygonal lasso tool (4) rectangular marquee tool (5) elliptical marquee tool (6) single row marquee tool and single column marquee tool. by adding and subcontracting we can customize our selection, the Shift key automatically activate the add to selection while Alt to subtract selection. exam tips on  Lasso Tools and how to differentiate them. Magic Wend tools. Tolerance; the higher the tolerance = the more pixel colors it can select. Transform Selection: this help to change the size of the picture. Alpha Channel: transparency, this the channel that support transparency. we also learnt about anti-analyzing which help in smoothing. A brief explanation too on full HD resolution and width, 1080p = hight, the P stand for progressive.

how to convert from image format to another function of history palette how to change on-screen size of an image./image => main menu => image size. color mode(RGB & CYMK). WORKING WITH COLORS. Color mode = color space = color model •All colors that can be seen by the human eye are called the visible spectrum •The range of colors that can be produced by a process or device is called the gamut. Panton Color: this are colors use in real world while RGB & CMYK: are mostly use for digital image or computers. When the values of the color are been added it refer to  as ADDITIVE. Example; when all the values are zero, this gives you Black. Cmyk are mostly use for printing. Index Color: This serves only for reference.  it reduces the files size while speeding up display refresh. Index color, Grayscale (8bit), Bitmap (1bit) The UNDO Command can undo up to 1000 step maximum, its main purpose is to correct a mistake You c...
